FAQs

The A’s to your Q’s. If there’s something we haven’t covered, drop us a line!
We’ll get back in touch with the details asap (or can set up a call & chat.)

Who is welcome on a Stellavision Tour?

Solo-travlers, women, transgender, and nonbinary folks. In short: people seeking community or people who may have ever felt nervous traveling comfortably or safely based on who they are. We also adore hosting friends, partners and family members on Tour. And, when it comes to private travel planning, it’s your group and your invite list - anyone goes!

Certain activities have specific eligibility for health & safety reasons. If you’re not able to join a particular activity (for health & safety reasons only), we will tweak, tailor and provide an incredible alternate experience before you rejoin the group.

I need Travel Insurance? Where do I start?

Yes, travel insurance is mandatory. The coverage you’re required to have is listed in our Booking Terms & Conditions. There are many companies with multiple coverage options and we strongly recommend doing your own research. But to give you a head start, here are some companies you can check out, all of which include Covid-related coverage:

Seven Corners / Trawick International / World Nomads (with some coverage exclusions).

Can I come solo?

Certo! One million percent! Aside from showing you the version of Italy tourists don’t get to see, bringing together diverse, empathetic travelers who share a cultural curiosity and a passion for authentic experiences is our greatest joy. You don’t have to be BFFs with everyone but chances are you’ll meet, network and share incredible Italian memories with some really excellent humans.

The Tour is all inclusive, but I don’t drink alcohol…

We make our tours all-inclusive so you never have to think about whipping out your wallet or splitting a dinner bill umpteen ways. Whenever we have an aperitivo, a mixologist’s mocktail, fresh juice or soft option will be available (just wait until you try a chinotto). We also don’t want to prevent you from having one glass of wine, one time, if you would like to. For those reasons, we don’t offer a different price point in advance. After you return home, you can select between a $100 refund or a $250 gift card.

I want to share a room with my travel partner but only single occupancy is mentioned. Help?

Not a problem! We love hosting sisters, friends, partners etc. In small Italian boutique hotels, rooms with two double beds are rare. But if you are happy to share the King or Queen size bed or to have one person on a cot or pull-out, we’ll make all the arrangements for you. We recommend making the first booking to ensure your spot/room is reserved and then contacting us to discuss the second. We’ll fill you in on all the details, provide the supplemental cost for double occupancy and arrange payment. See you both soon!

What measures are you taking in a ‘post’-pandemic world? Things are not back to normal.

We completely agree. Our goal is to find a perfect balance between providing incredible experiences for those who are able to travel, supporting Italy’s tourism industry and being sensitive and strategic about the current circumstances. You’ll find all the details about our health and safety planning and our Covid-specific WTFAQ here.

What’s included in the Tour?

Please check out the individual tour pages. They each feature a complete list of what’s included on each specific tour. And what’s not.

Do I have to budget for tips?

Nope! The tour price includes tips to all our suppliers and collaborators (but not Stellavision staff). If you would like to tip your Tour Guide and Photographer, that is at your discretion and warmly appreciated.

How many photos will I receive?

You will receive an album for each day of your tour with no fewer than 25 stunning, professionally-shot pictures. Say formaggio!

What deposit do I have to pay?

50% of your Tour cost is due at time of booking.

When’s my final payment due? Fine print?

45 days before your tour’s start date. All that info & the not-so-fine print is available right here.

What if I have to cancel? What’s your refund policy?

We understand that circumstances change though we’d be disappointed not to welcome you to Italy! Dependent on when you cancelled your booking, you might be entitled to waive your final payment or receive a partial amount returned.

45+ days prior to departure: 50% of the total trip cost is non-refundable. 31 to 45 days prior to departure: 75% of the total trip cost is non-refundable. 0 to 30 days prior to departure: 100% of the trip cost is non-refundable.

I have extenuating circumstances. Can I get my deposit back?

No, your deposit is non-refundable. The reason why we have to be strict here is because (aside from being a small business ourselves) we work with small, Italian businesses. They are always local and often family-run and in order to support their livelihood, we always honor our deposits with them.

Travel insurance is mandatory on Stellavision Trips and we recommend ensuring you are covered for trip cancellation. This might be your only recourse to recoup your expenses in this scenario.

I’m vegan/ vegetarian / have food allergies. Will I still be able to enjoy everything?

Of course! Italians pride themselves on hospitality, and so does Stellavision. In advance of arrival, we reach out and check with all travelers about any particular needs they may have, including food preferences. We’ll ensure delicious options are available for you throughout: Italians pride themselves on their food too!

I’d like to arrive early for the Tour / stay later. Can you help me organize my extended trip?

Absolutely! Pending availability, we can help you organize that you’re in the same room before and during your tour. We also have a number of different recommendations at various price points and a network of tour guides and partners in Rome (and beyond). Planning holidays is our literal favorite thing and if you’re booked on a Stellavision Tour, we’ll offer you extra services molto discounted! Let us know how we can help.

What should I pack?

A few weeks before your tour start date, we’ll send a recommended packing list with plenty of practical details. If you need some inspo for impeccable Italian style in the meantime, look no further.

What if it rains?

We’re rain-or-shine kinda people! The tours happen no matter the weather. In our experience, a smidge of bad weather never lasts long during Italian summers and we always have an amazing pivot up our sleeves if it’s absolutely necessary.

Where’s the best gelato in Italy?

Where do we even start?

How do I get earlybird prices?

Our earlybird rates are available in the first weeks after a Tour goes on sale - but only to our closest friends on our mailing list! They’re always the first to hear and the only ones who get that reduced rate. If you’re not on the list, you can sign up here. Don’t worry, you’ll receive the code retroactively : )
